NASA live

Great news! On January 4th, we get to visit with NASA folks in Houston live, via the distance learning lab at the high school. We will be discussing the solar system and possibilities of finding life somewhere else besides Earth. Students will begin planet research tomorrow, will make a scale model of solar system distance between planets, and begin making a solar system booklet before we meet with NASA. -Mr. C

Something I learned that was interesting this week was how to make christmas wreaths out of stips of plastic. We bent a hanger into a circle and then cut strips of plastic and tied them on the hanger. -Hailey

Snowy Day!

We're studying space now in science. For December, students should be mapping the moon at night or in the morning unless it't too cloudy of course. We're also learning about constellations, the sun, other solar system objects, electromagnetic radation and motion in this unit. Students will be doing some activities at home outside during this next month or so. December works well for this with it getting dark by 6 pm. Hopefully they won't all be cloudy and snowy like today!

Today we had Jennifer Silverston from Nothern Options, formerly the Marquette Wind Energy organization. She spoke about the advantages of alternative energies specifically in our area and how we could reduce our energy consumption.

Today we worked on determining the mean, median, and mode of data. Starting next week the students will begin a project where they design a question, collect data about it, calculate the data, and eventually after the holiday break they will design graphs for their data/research.
